A:

Yes. You must use a tone-dial phone. Additionally, to avoid unnecessary hotel surcharges on the call, it is often best to use a public payphone.

Q:

How can I ensure the security of my calling card?

A:

There are several security tips for you:

  • Change your PIN from time to time by calling 2808 8763 in Hong Kong. Please call the respective access number while overseas.
  • Store your Global Calling Card number and PIN separately.
  • If the phone has a redial function, key in a random number after finishing your call.
  • Shield the display area on the phone from onlookers.
  • When faxing, make sure the header function is off.

Q:

What is a tone-dial phone?

A:

On a tone-dial phone, each number on the keypad (0-9) produces one sound, or tone, when pressed. Some older types of phones produce multiple tones (e.g., three tones when you press 3; seven tones when you press 7). If you're a frequent traveler, a tone dialer which converts pulse signals to tone signals may be useful.
